Our Classroom Zoo
We tend to attract several pets in our classroom that help us learn a lot each day! One pet we have is our Leopard Gecko. He has earned the name Leo and is well cared for and receives lots of attention every day. Every spring we enjoy hatching chicks in the incubator and studying about their development in the eggs. In past years, we have been able to pet goats, watch a caterpillar turn into a butterfly, feed and care for a 6-lined race runner, as well as watch some mud dauber wasps build their nests outside our classroom window. Every opportunity to learn from a real creature brings the classroom learning to life and there are many questions that need to be answered.

Click on the icon to the left to visit the website to learn more about the educational grant that we received in the fall of 2014. A grant is money donated to people for a good cause. We used our grant money to buy our classroom pet, Leo, and we prepared to take care of him by reading and researching about pets for the classroom. Chick Embryo Development
Visit this website to view the stages of development in a chick. We will be visiting this site as we watch our chicks grow inside our eggs! I am so excited for day 21!
The incubator must be at the perfect temperature for the baby chicks to develop correctly: 99.5 -100 degrees F. |
