"You know the expression that goes 'you are what you eat.' Well, he ate too many leaves." ~Brayden8/28/2015 Today was an exciting day in room 10 because we had a visitor. It was not like a human sort of visitor, but rather an insect. The big question of the day was "What is it?" As a class, we made observations such as: it is green, it has a leaf on it's back, it blends in with the grass so it is camouflage, he has four antennas by his mouth, he has long legs and can hop, he puts his feet in his mouth sometimes. We also thought of some other questions that we wanted to research: What exactly is it? Can it fly? What does it eat? Can we keep him? Is it a "he" or a "she?" We did not have time to research him before the week ended, so we had to let him go. The class agreed that if we kept him he would die because we did not know how to take care of him. When we opened up the fishbowl that he was in for the morning, he climbed up to the top and then flew up into the trees. Only a few of us were able to spot him, because he truly blended in well with the environment. We had fun learning about the leaf guy. We learned that this leaf guy can actually fly because when we let him go, he flew into the trees.

Last night I looked up facts about a praying mantis I saw that he eats some sort of other bug. I think it looked creepy when I looked at him because he has one eye on each side.

Meet Mrs. PriceI love to learn new things! One great place to learn is by spending time in nature and the outdoors with my husband, David! Any opportunity that we can get to take a bike ride, hike, or walk we will take it! I also love music and enjoy playing my flute at church and singing. I also love learning with kids. My passion is to join children as they inquire, and teach them to cultivate their love for learning about this incredible world. Let's get started! CategoriesArchives
